Life Journey

Did we change when we reach forty or fifty ?

Do you change when you are over forty or fifty?

Do you change when you are over forty or fifty…
“Yes, I am changing…” This is what a friend who is close to seventy told me, so I asked him: “What has changed for you?” He sent me these lines saying:

Yes, I am changing…

After I used to only love my parents, my siblings, my wife, my children, and my friends, I now started to love myself with them!

Yes, I am changing.

I just realized that I am not like “Atlas” in Greek mythology, and the world does not stand on my back!

Yes, I am changing.

I stopped bargaining with the seller of fruits and vegetables a while ago, because in the end, some pennies will not make me richer, but it may help that poor seller to provide school supplies for his children!

Yes, I am changing.

I started paying the taxi driver without waiting for the rest. The extra amounts might put a smile on his face. Anyway, he toils more for a living than I do today!

Yes, I am changing.

I have learned not to criticize people even when I know they are wrong. So I no longer care about fixing people and making everyone perfect. Peace with everyone is better than imaginary perfection!

Yes, I am changing.

I have become practicing the art of compliments with generosity and freedom without hypocrisy. As I learned from experience that this improves the mood not only for those who receive the compliment, but especially for me as well!

Yes, I am changing.

I learned not to be bothered by a wrinkle or dirt on my shirt. Therefore, the strength of character is much more important than appearances!

Yes, I am changing.

I’m quietly moving away from people who don’t appreciate me. So they may not know my worth, but I know very well who I am! And now I don’t care about those who let me down, because I know that God will turn them away from me because they do not deserve to be in the circle of people of virtue, but rather they were expelled from the door of charity and turned away.

Yes, I am changing.

I have become cold as ice when I confront someone who provokes me aggressively in order to get me into a sterile argument. Anyway, in the end, there will be nothing left of all the arguments, and I can no longer bear it.

Yes, I have changed.

I do whatever makes me happy. And to enjoy my life.. as life passes.. and my children are part of my life, not all of my life.. and to enjoy my relationship with God… and more than my obedience.. after my death.. how many will remember me? and when??
Therefore, I understood that I am responsible for my happiness in this world and the Hereafter.
